Claudette Hennessy

Sad news. Long-time HVSC member, Claudette Hennessy, passed away on March 30 at her son Roark’s home in Northern Vermont. She had been residing there for the last year or so after an illness. Until that time, in her early 90’s, she kept busy! Among other interests and activities, she was still playing pickle ball, taking a few ski runs, ushering at the Bardavon and entertaining friends.
Professionally, she had been a teacher, mathematician, chemist and data base consultant. She had a deadpan wit like very few, and frequently had her friends laughing out loud. Her wit was also evident in her Christmas letter, which those of us who were on her distribution list, eagerly awaited every December.
Many of you will remember that for years she threw two parties a year for ski club at her beautiful old home in Marlboro. The summer party included volleyball, biking, swimming and eating. As we aged, the last summer party saw us play volleyball with a beach ball! You can imagine how hysterical that was! Such fun!! Her other annual ski club affair was an old-fashioned Christmas party and sing-along where some wore period dress and we feasted on holiday fare. Mike Harelick played guitar and we had song books to help us remember the words!
She was a wonderful friend and human being and will be sorely missed. A link to her obituary is below if you’d like to know more about her life.
