We’ll meet sharply at 9:30 AM at the Rail Trail parking lot behind H.G. Page (the lot closest to the over-highway bridge), and after a brief safety talk, we’ll head out for a 2 mile walk, picking up any litter along the way. Trash bags and rubber gloves will be provided to all participants. After backtracking to our cars, we’ll gather for a […]

There is nothing like fall in the Adirondacks! I am planning a paddling/camping week in the Adirondacks and want you to consider joining us. The dates are September 23 - 27, 2019. This year we will set up camp at a state campground and then take day paddles at different lakes/ ponds/creeks each day. This would allow us to do all our paddling with unloaded boats rather than paddling “loaded” to an isolated campsite and of course “loaded” back to put-in and cars. The campground is Fish Creek Ponds Public Campground, located off Rt 30 at Square Pond and Fish Creek Ponds in the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness. Using this campground as a base, there are innumerable day paddling options […]
Last trip of the season -- picnic to follow. Ready to paddle at 11:00 a.m. We will provide dogs and burghs with condiments. You are responsible for a dish to share and the beverage of your choice. Not paddling -- come anyway and enjoy the picnic and the hopefully beautiful fall day. Hope to see all……….. If you have questions, please contact: Yvonne: 845-481-2898 (home), 845-417-7144 (cell)
New Location - meet at Johnson-Iorio Park at the end of Haviland Rd. Go past the Western entrance to the Walkway Over the Hudson, all the way to the end of the road. This is a moderate hike with some elevation change. About 4 miles.
Unlike anything you’ll While every shelter on the Appalachian Trail has its own unique character, the RPH Shelter in New York State is u encounter up and down the trail. This is truly a Hiker Hilton with takeout delivery, lounge furniture, picnic tables, plaster walls, a clean painted floor, working windows, a nice privy, and even a small library. I had the pleasure of camping here alone, although some company would have been welcome too, back in mid-April when I hiked the New York AT. The shelter has a funny location. It’s located right off the Taconic Parkway, and looks a little suspicious on the New York/New Jersey Map of the AT due to its proximity to a road. But it’s […]
It’s that time again… Please join us for a fun morning as we walk the section between Old Manchester Road and Titusville Road, cleaning up any trailside trash. Page (the lot closest to the Route 55 over-highway bridge), and after a brief safety talk, we’ll head out for a 2 mile walk, picking up any litter along the way. After backtracking to our cars, we’ll gather for a late breakfast/early lunch at the Daily Planet on Route 55, always a great way to continue the conversations. Trash bags and rubber […]
