| In February 1969, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Society's Monteux Quartet
performed as a preliminary to the establishment of a regular chamber music
series for the Kingston area.
Encouraged by the response, the Ulster County Council of the HVP Society
scheduled two concerts for 1970. By 1971 the three concert winter series
had been established.
The concerts have been held at the acoustically superb Church of the Holy
Cross in Kingston and have featured, in addition to HVP artists, guest artists
Ani Kanafian, Gilbert Kalish, Pedja Muzijevic and Robert Starer. Each concert
is followed by a meet-the-artist reception.
